Project Description
Hooker Oak is a K-8 school that offers its students an alternative to typical structured coursework. Open to all students in the community and not subject to living within its neighborhood. The open structure curriculum empowers the students to take an active role in there education. Even with the high (and required) parent participation the financial cutbacks has dramatically impacted its overall condition.
Project Leader Notes
I have worked this site the past few love chico days and always leave with my heart full of joy in knowing my service was needed and appreciated. The school principal, Sue, is always there and very sincere in expressing her appreciation to us. They have a large garden and plenty of task that are available for any age volunteer. If you have your own garden tools, paint supplies, gloves or.... Please bring them, if not, that's ok, we will be honored to have you. This is a very family friendly service area. In addition to the tools and supplies, it would be wonderful to have some snacks and drinks. Please let us know if you would like to help with nourishment.
